TO:  Fans, Friends, and Supporters of LSU Athletics

FROM: Skip Bertman, Athletics Director

The 2006 LSU football season is now just two days away and the finishing touches are being put on Tiger Stadium and the LSU campus to get ready for the 92,300 fans expected for the Tigers’ season opener.

This week’s Cyber-side Chat will provide you with some important information on various aspects of the LSU game day experience.

WEST SIDE ENTRY

Fans who sit on the west side of Tiger Stadium and in the Stadium Club will enter through either Portal A or Portal B to access their seats.  Portal A is located on the west side of the stadium.  Portal B is located on the southwest corner of the stadium on South Stadium Drive.

West upper deck season ticket holders should use either the north bank or the south bank of elevators to reach their seats.  They can also use the ramp on the southwest corner of the stadium.

Stadium Club ticket holders should use the elevators in the middle banks of elevators to reach their seats.

WEST STADIUM PARKING LOT

The parking lot on the west side of Tiger Stadium, Lot A, will be ready to accommodate automobile parking for Saturday’s game.  You will notice a new attractive promenade that stretches from the corner of Nicholson Drive and South Stadium Drive to the west side of the stadium.  Although the parking lot is currently not completely finished, you will soon see new landscaping that will provide an attractive “front door” to Tiger Stadium.

PARKING INFO

To remind you about a parking change that was made last season, the parking lot directly across the street from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine is available for individual game motor home parking.  Individual motor home parking passes are available for $100 each from the LSU Ticket Office at (225) 578-2184.  The LSU Fan Guide erroneously listed this lot as a free parking lot for automobiles.

Free automobile parking is now available in the Levee Lots (weather permitting) on River Road near Skip Bertman Drive.  Also, don’t forget there is plenty of free parking on The Fairway at the corner of Nicholson Drive and Gourrier Lane, as well as The Hayfield lot just west of The Fairway.

BAG CHECKS

In this era of heightened security, we will again be conducting bag checks at Tiger Stadium this fall.  Please be aware that bag checks will be conducted prior to your entry to any gate or portal.

PERMISSIBLE ITEMS

Please note in your LSU Fan Guide the items that are permitted and the items that are not permitted in Tiger Stadium. Permissible items include stadium seats that do not exceed 16 inches wide, purses, binocular cases with binoculars, and diaper bags accompanied by a baby or child.

Non-permissible items include backpacks, alcoholic beverages, glass or plastic bottles, video recording devices, food and drink, ice chests or coolers and bags larger than 8.5 by 11 inches.

“EYE OF THE STORM” DOCUMENTARY

This Sunday night, I urge you to watch a special one-hour documentary on Hurricane Katrina that will air nationwide on Fox Sports Net, featuring your LSU Tigers.  “Eye of the Storm” is a moving documentary that tells the story of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath through the eyes of football players, coaches and administrators at LSU.

The documentary will air Sunday at 8 p.m. Central time, and will include behind the scenes footage of the Tigers working as athletes by day and as volunteer relief workers by night.  This documentary has been in the works for over a year and I think you will enjoy it.
